The goal of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is to transform the VA into a high-performing 21st-century organization focused on our nation’s veterans as its clients. To address the Secretary’s challenges, Assistant Secretary Roger Baker has five major goals for the VA’s Office of Information and Technology (OIT): (1) improve customer service, (2) manage projects to an outcome, (3) provide operational metrics, (4) ensure information protection, and (5) improve financial reporting. These five goals will enhance support across the VA’s three major business functions: Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), and National Cemetery Administration (NCA). Through the T4 contract, the VA seeks to provide unique and flexible acquisition and technical expertise capable of rapidly implementing quality solutions through a lean process that satisfies customer mission requirements across the entire spectrum of federal agencies.
